23 – 26 July  ·  Mussoorie Hills  ·  Art Retreat

Four days of unhurried,
unjudged, and unapologetic
making in the heart of the hills.

The mountains don't grade your work. Neither do we.

Tucked away in a forest estate outside Mussoorie — pine and oak overhead, streams threading through the land, monsoon clouds heavy in the valleys — this retreat is built for people who need to slow down and make something real.

Over four unhurried days, you'll move through 12+ immersive sessions: printing with sunlight and plant juices, shaping clay, mending with gold through kintsugi, pressing botanicals into paper you made yourself. Between sessions — birding walks at dawn, a guided shinrin-yoku into the forest, meditation at altitude, storytelling by the hearth, a gloriously messy bad art party over high tea, and long meals celebrating the flavours of the hills.

Day 1 — Arrive & Orient

Photo Walk

Learn to see before you make — a slow walk through the estate with a camera or just your eyes.

Stream Walk

Wade into the hillside streams to handpick the rocks you'll paint later that afternoon.

Rock Painting

Paint the rocks you gathered — no rules, no references, just paint.

Day 2 — Gather & Print

Shinrin-Yoku Walk

A mindful forest immersion to collect colours, textures and patterns straight from the wild.

Cyanotype Printing

Use sunlight as your darkroom — press botanicals onto treated paper and let the sun do the rest.

Paper Making

Pulp, press, and dry your own sheets — the paper you make today becomes the canvas you paint on tomorrow.

Day 3 — Repair & Shape

Morning Meditation

Start the day in stillness — a guided sit in the middle of the forest, before the world wakes up.

Kintsugi

The Japanese art of mending with gold — break something, repair it beautifully, keep it forever.

Clay Modelling & Sculpting

Get your hands properly dirty — shape, press, and build something from nothing.

Day 4 — Make & Celebrate

Botanical Printing

Press leaves, petals and bark directly onto fabric or paper — every print is unrepeatable.

Paper Painting & Collage

Paint on the paper you made on Day 2, then tear, layer and collage your way to something unexpected.

Bad Art Party

High tea, zero pressure, and a deliberate invitation to make something wonderfully terrible. The best way to end.
